
Akhalkalak Armenian Church Undergoes Repairs
The St. Grigor Narekatsi Armenian Church in the Ghado village of the Akhalkalak region is undergoing renovations. A temporary halt to the work has been called due to the inclement weather.
According to an inscription above the church door, St. Grigor was built in 1868. A stone structure with a wood roof, the church was damaged due to an earthquake that hit at the end of the 19th century. The church hasn't been functioning for many years.
Benefactor Samvel Mouradyan who has roots in the village has assumed the financial cost of the renovation project.
