Yerevan's a Commuter's Nightmare; Sarkozy's in Town

Downtown Yerevan resembled a pedestrian mall early today as police closed down all major roads to public and private vehicles.

That’s right; French President Nicolas Sarkozy was in town.

This resulted in a nightmare for commuters trying to get into central Yerevan on their way to work or school.

A group calling itself “Civilized Transport” rhetorically asks if citizens of Paris would have condoned such treatment and whether or not the Paris Municipality would shut down the French capital if Serzh Sargsyan, the President of Armenia, went to visit Sarkozy at the Élysée Palace?
