At today’s trial session of Nikol Pashinyan on charges that the jailed editor of "Haykakan Zhamanak" struck a law enforcement office during a opposition march on October 23, 2007, a polic witness testified that he saw an irate Mr. Pashinyan strike police commander Vazgen Dabaghlyan in the leg.
"I saw the moment he struck," stated Commander Madatyan, "I saw the injured party being hit but I couldn’t say for sure what foot Pashinyan used and what part of leg he struck.
The police witness, Commander Artur Madatyan of the First Unit of the National Defense Service, testified that the opposition marchers had reached Koryun Street, disturbing the public order as they went down Mashtots Avenue, when a scuffle broke out in the vicinity of the Urartu store.
