The criminal case surrounding the assault of Hetq Chief Editor Edik Baghdasaryan will start tomorrow at 12:30 pm at the Kentron and Nork-Marash Court of First Instance. Three individuals attacked Mr. Baghdasaryan as he left the Hetq offices on the evening of November 17, 2008. To date, only one of the three assailants, Karen Harutyunyan, has been arrested. The court has stated that it has reviewed its decision to detain Mr. Harutyunyan until the trial begins and that, given the circumstances involved and the severity of the crime, it will let its prior decision stand. The court has also declared that the defendant is also presents a high "flight risk" due to a prior assault conviction.
