ARF Rules Out Possibility Of a "Fusion Ticket"
Artzvik Minasyan, an ARF parliamentary deputy who heads the party's ticket for the upcoming May Yerevan May municipal election stated, at a press conference earlier today, that the party does not intend to create a fusion ticket with other political forces.
"We intend to participate in the election with our own ticket, confident that the public will cast their votes in our favor," Mr. Minasyan noted.
Regarding possible cooperation with the HAK (Armenian National Congress headed by Levon Ter-Petrosyan), the ARF candidate pointed out that when it comes to issues of national ideology, his party has nothing in common with the opposition alliance. Mr. Minasyan did say that the ARF was ready to cooperate with all political forces, including HAK, to ensure the implementation of free and fair elections.
Mr. Minasyan went on to state that if the ARF wins the election the party would form a municipal government comprised of a staff picked on the basis of professional and character, not party affiliation.
The ARF candidate added that in the event of a victory they would transfer oversight of the workings of the municipality and budgetary matters to political forces that the ARF considers as the opposition, both within the coalition and outside.
