Prosecutor General: Corrupt Judges? I Need Proof!
In response to a recently released special report by Armenia’s Human Rights Defender on corruption within the country’s judicial system, Prosecutor General Gevorg Kostanyan today called on the official to offer at least one confirmed case of bribe taking by a judge in order to launch a criminal case.
The report, focusing on corruption within Armenian courts, even includes a list of average bribe amounts demanded by judges for a favorable verdict.
Kostanyan says his office can ensure the safety of any witness who testifies that a sitting judge demanded such a bribe.
