Energy Minister: Gas Negotiations with Russia Ongoing
RA Minister of Energy and Natural Resources told reporters today that until negotiations with Russia are completed deliveries of gas to Armenia would remain at $180.
When asked why Armenia isn’t seriously exploring alternate energy sources, Minister Movsisyan retorted, “And is there such a possibility for outside assistance in this region of ours?”
When reporters noted Iran as one such source, Movsisyan said that the price offered by Tehran was even higher.
Minister Movsisyan told reporters that Russian gas in Georgia was cheaper because the gas pipeline from Azerbaijan to Turkey passes through that country and that it benefits as a transit country.
