Booksellers recently removed from the underground passage way at the intersection of Abovyan and Moskovyan Streets have been given two options as to where they can temporarily set up shop.

Yerevan Mayor Taron Magaryan suggested that they can either be transferred to the underground passage near the Malibu Cafe on Mesrop Mashtots Avenue or further yet, towards the closed market.

The book vendors told the mayor that they would prefer to move to the open area next to the Republic Square metro station.

Mayor Margaryan said the area in question was scheduled for repair and thus wasn’t suitable.

Margaryan also ruled out the area surrounding the Yeritasardakan metro station as a temporary alternate.

The vendors said they would collectively choose one of the proposed sites.

Mayor Margaryan said that the owners of the stores in the underground passage promised that space would be made available to the vendors once improvements to the site had finished.
