LONDON — In a major step toward deepening Western security ties, the Republic of Armenia and the United Kingdom signed a comprehensive defense cooperation program for 2026–2027 following bilateral consultations held in London on November 4.
The agreement, as reported by Armenian Ministry of Defense, marks a strategic continuation of Armenia’s defense diversification policy.
Expanding Military and Strategic Horizons
The high-level talks focused extensively on pressing regional and international security challenges, alongside detailed reviews of the current state of UK-Armenia defense relations. Representatives from both nations emphasized that there is significant untapped potential for joint security efforts. Agreement was reached on multiple new fronts, though specific technological or training initiatives were not immediately made public.
Levon Ayvazyan (Head of the Department of Defense Policy and International Cooperation of the Ministry of Defense of Armenia) and Chris King (Director for Russia, Eastern Europe, and Central Asia Policy at the UK Ministry of Defence) signed the resulting bilateral accord.
To maintain this diplomatic momentum, both sides agreed that the next round of defense consultations will be hosted in Yerevan.
