Civil Contract Party Scores Decisive Victory in Armenia Election
Armenia’s Central Electoral Commission today released the following preliminary results of Sunday’s parliamentary election.
- Civil Contract Party — 727,827 votes (49.83%)
- Strong Armenia Alliance — 340,088 (23.281%)
- Armenia Alliance — 145,113 (9.934%)
- Prosperous Armenia Party — 58,378 (3.996%)
- Wings of Unity Party — 33,644 (2.303%)
- Meritocratic Party of Armenia — 30,807 (2.109%)
- Democracy, Law, Discipline Party — 26,567 (1.818%)
- New Force Reformist Party — 25,624 (1.754%)
- I Am Against Everyone — 21,477 (1.470%
- Republic Party — 15,835
- In the Name of the Republic Party — 6,750 (0.462%)
- Pan-Armenian National Democratic Pole — 5,485
- Democratic Consolidation Party — 5,284 (0.361%)
- Armenian National Congress — 3,206
- Christian Democratic Party — 2,679 (0.183%)
- Kochari National Revival and National Awakening Party — 1,984
- Reformists Party — 1,456 (0.996%)
If these results hold, Civil Contract, Strong Armenia and the Armenia Alliance will hold seats in the country's new parliament. The result allows PM Nikol Pashinyan’s party to keep control of parliament, elect the prime minister, and form a government without a coalition. However, it fell short of the two-thirds majority needed to pass constitutional amendments.
