“I Am Against Everyone” Party Stages Barrel Rolling in Yerevan

Armenia’s “I’m Against Everyone” party staged a barrel-rolling stunt in central Yerevan today ahead of the country’s June parliamentary election.

“What kind of internal political and pre-election struggle is there without barrel rolling? We are gathering at Liberty Square to roll barrels, showing that there are three million prime ministers in Armenia, and they are all just as good at barrel rolling as the current and aspiring prime ministers,” the party’s Facebook page states.

The party, formed in January, says that if it wins, special parliamentary elections will be held one hundred days after assuming power under a revised set of electoral rules to make the national assembly more representative.

Currently, parties must receive at least 4% of the vote to gain seats in parliament. For political alliances, the threshold is 6%.

The party promises to add an “I am against everyone” ballot during the special elections. Party representative Hovsep Ghazaryan says this will force politicians to be more accountable to the public and work more efficiently. Otherwise, voters can go and vote against everyone.
