
Pashinyan Attends Groundbreaking for Sports School Honoring Legendary Gymnast
Armenian PM Nikol Pashinyan today, in Yerevan, attended the groundbreaking ceremony of a sports school to be named in honor of the legendary gymnast Albert Azaryan.
The Armenian government has allocated AMD 6.9 billion (US$18.3M) for the construction of the sports training complex near Yerevan’s Hrazdan Stadium.
The school, to be completed by November 2026, will host the European Gymnastics Championships that will be held in Armenia for the first time in 2027.
Azaryan, who passed away in Yerevan in 2023 at the age of 94, was the 1956 and 1960 Olympic Champion on the still rings.
