135 Armenians Detained in Azerbaijan, Says International Law Expert

Siranush Sahakyan, an international law specialist and human rights activist, today said that according to official data, fifty-five Armenians are detained in Baku, and there is no information about another eighty.

"Among them, we have civilian and military prisoners, as well as prisoners under political persecution. We have six civilians, forty-one prisoners of war and eight former high-ranking political and military figures who are considered political prisoners," Sahakyan said at a press conference in Yerevan.

Sahakyan said the fate of an additional eighty civilians and military persons   captured by Azerbaijan is unknown.
