Kremlin Spokesman Has No Comment on Baku's "Western Azerbaijan" Claim

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters today that he cannot comment on remarks made by Armenian PM Nikol Pashinyan that Azerbaijan is preparing for a new war given Baku’s stated policy of calling the Republic of Armenia as “Western Azerbaijan”.

"Unfortunately, I cannot say anything, because I am not familiar with such statements of Azerbaijan at the state level. We have heard completely different statements from the leadership of that country, the leadership of Azerbaijan, where they talk about the need to reach the end of one stage and the readiness to sign a peace treaty," Peskov told reporters, according to the TASS agency.

Pashinyan, during his speech at the autumn meeting of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly held in Yerevan last week, said that Baku’s “Western Azerbaijan” language “is one of the main obstacles to the progress of the peace process.”
