Marwijk Still Hopeful...Löw Exudes Confidence

Commenting on his team’s 2-1 loss to Germany yesterday, Dutch national coach Bert van Marwijk remarked that he hasn’t lost all hope.

“We played a great game the first twenty minutes and everything went according to plan. We had a few chances but the Germans scored their goal from nothing. We gave them too much space,” Marwijk lamented.

The Dutch coach noted that the Germans faced problems after Robin van Persie scored for Holland, but added that luck didn’t shine on the orange shirts yesterday.

Marwijk said his offensive line has played well against the Danes and Germans but that the same cannot be said for the defense.

“We still have a chance to advance and that’s what I told the guys in the locker room,” said the Dutch coach.

Meanwhile, German national team coach Joachim Löw said he was delighted to have six points after two games and hoped that yesterday’s win would pave the way for the team to get to the quarter finals.

“Everything rests in our hands. It was a very intensive game but the severe heat prevented us from turning on the gas during the entire match. The Dutch had a strong defensive line but our defense won the day,” remarked Löw.
