The Armenian Defense Ministry says its recent deployment of military equipment along the eastern border with Azerbaijan, near Vardenis, is in response to an Azerbaijani artillery and anti-aircraft buildup in the area.

The ministry says its actions are purely defensive, that it will remove the weapons if Baku does, and that it’s ready to discuss the matter.
