Citing "Bankrupt" Foreign Policy, Oposition Party Again Calls for Pashinyan's Ouster
The opposition Republican Party of Armenia (RPA), in a statement released today, accuses the Pashinyan government of pursuing a “bankrupt foreign policy” based on adventurism and treachery that threatens the security of Armenia and Artsakh.
The RPA has again called on the Pashinyan government to immediately resign, a step it says will nullify the anti-Armenian agreements the government has secretly made with certain international players.
The RPA says negotiations with Azerbaijan must start anew once Armenia “reaffirms” its foreign policy agenda with its strategic ally and partners. Here, the RPA is talking about Armenia’s strategic ally Russia.
The RPA does not specify what it means by “reaffirming” Armenia’s foreign policy, i.e., what that policy should be.
The RPA argues that the mediation efforts of Russia and the European Union have failed to stabilize the situation in Armenia and Artsakh.
The party criticizes those “international players” who praise the Pashinyan administration for implementing democratic reforms for not having any desire to curb Azerbaijan aggression.
The RPA doesn’t specify who would govern Armenia if Pashinyan resigns, which seems highly unlikely.
Anti-government forces, including the RPA, staged street protests in Yerevan earlier this year in a bid to oust Pashinyan.
Those protests eventually fizzled after failing to attract crucial numbers of citizens.
