Georgia Will Not Attend Upcoming South Caucasus Cooperation “3+3” Platform” Meeting in Turkey
Georgia will not participate in the upcoming meeting of the South Caucasus Cooperation “3+3” Platform” in Turkey according to the Daily Sabah news outlet citing Georgian Ambassador to Turkey Giorgi Janjghava.
“Georgia will definitely not attend the 3+3 meeting,” Janjgava told Daily Sabah yesterday, noting that Russia continues to occupy 20% of Georgian territory.
Janjgava told the newspaper that Georgia sees both Turkey and Azerbaijan as “its strategic partners” and views Armenia as a "historical and good neighbor" in a neighborhood also home to Iran.
Turkey and Azerbaijan proposed the Caucasus platform following the 2020 war in Artsakh. It was supposed to include Russia, Azerbaijan, Turkey, Iran, Armenia and Georgia.
Georgia did not attend the first meeting of the “3+3” platform on December 10, 2021 in Moscow.
Armenia was represented by Deputy Foreign Minister Vahe Gevorgyan.
