
Erdoğan, Aliyev in Shushi
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has arrived in Shushi.
Turkish media report that Erdoğan was met by Azerbaijani President Ilham Ali in the Fizuli region.
Erdoğan arrived in Baku on the evening of June 14 after the NATO summit. An official welcoming ceremony will take place in Shushi.
Erdoğan’s delegation includes Minister of National Defense Hulusi Akar, Head of the Public Relations Department of the Turkish Presidential Administration Fahrettin Altun, Turkish Presidential Spokesman İbrahim Kalın, Justice and Development Party (AKP) Spokesman Ömer Çelik, and head of the Turkish delegation to the NATO Parliamentary Assembly, Osman Ashkin .
Turkish media outlet Yeni Şafak writes that after the meeting in Shushi, the two leaders will sign agreements on the reconstruction of Nagorno Karabakh, as well as projects in the political and economic spheres.
“During the meeting of the leaders of the two countries, it is planned to discuss projects for the construction of road and railway lines, which will connect Azerbaijan to Turkey through Nakhchivan,” writes the Turkish newspaper.
İbrahim Kalın, in a Twitter post, writes "a new page in the history of the Caucasus is being written” and “Shusha is the historical and cultural center of Azerbaijan.”
