Russian, Turkish Foreign Ministers Discuss Strengthening Karabakh Ceasefire

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and his Turkish counterpart Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu spoke by telephone today and discussed several issues including the need to strengthen the Karabakh ceasefire.

The Russian Foreign Ministry, in a statement released today, says the two ministers discussed several issues on the bilateral and international agenda.

The Russian side expressed satisfaction with a Turkish court’s decision to release from custody the Russian journalists of the NTV television company detained in Turkey five days ago.

The importance of the resumption of Russian-Turkish contacts at a high level was noted as the spread of coronavirus infection slows down

The need was stressed to continue coordinating the efforts of the two countries in the interests of strengthening the ceasefire in Nagorno-Karabakh within the framework of a joint monitoring center and further stabilization of the situation in Transcaucasia.

The ministers exchanged views on the current situation regarding the settlement of the domestic Ukrainian crisis.
