Parliament Observes Sumgait Pogrom with One Minute of Silence
Today’s RA National Assembly session began with a minute of silence to commemorate the Armenians who were killed in the Sumgait pogroms this day in 1988.
It appears, however, that Parliament President Samvel Nikoyan had forgotten the anniversary for it took the ARF and Heritage parties to request some type of official observance.
Nikoyan didn’t miss a beat and called for the minute of silence, adding that the Sumgait events were still fresh in the minds of all Armenians.
