Armenia's Special Investigative Service Detains Brother and Nephew of Serzh Sargsyan
Armenia’s Special Investigative Service (SIS) has taken Alexander Sargsyan and his son Hayk, into custody after inspected their home earlier today.
Alexander Sargsyan is the brother of Serzh Sargsyan, Armenia’s former president who resigned as prime minister in April.
The SIS has not yet explained why the Sargsyans have been detained, telling the press to wait for an official statement.
Earlier today, the General Prosecutor’s Office released a statement that it was reopening a 2007 case that had been dropped in which Hayk Sargsyan was implicated as a suspect in a shooting incident.
