Since we wrote about Diaspora philanthropists George and Carolann Najarian in Hetq, we have received a number of letters from abroad addressed to our editorial board as well as to various Armenian officials. Here is one of them.

Dear Ladies and Gentlemen:

I am writing to you from The United States of America concerning the case before your court on Tuesday, the 25th of January 2005 regarding George and Carolann Najarian.

Please know that many of us in the United States have been watching the developments in this case closely and are concerned about the state of the judicial process in Armenia . I have read the articles published by Edik Baghdasaryan and most recently the details of this case in his January 19, 2005 article entitled "General Prosecutor's Office vs. Najarians". The details of this matter are shocking and, from what Mr. Baghdasaryan says, the matter of the integrity of the Armenian judicial process is in question. As an American attorney licensed to practice law in the highest courts of the United States, I wonder how such facts can apparently exist in a case, yet the matter remains unresolved. As an American who works for causes that promote understanding of Armenian culture and history, I want to know that justice will prevail and that stories of corruption are outdated and that the present day Armenia does not allow for such dishonesty.

Please take note of my concerns and for the countless other Armenian-Americans that are following this matter.

Respectfully,
Donna Daniels
