
Armenia Takes Silver at European Team Championship
Armenia’s men’s team came from behind to take second place at the European Team Chess Championship in Reykjavik.
For the fourth time, Russia won first place.
After the 7th round of play, Armenia was in fourth place. In the penultimate round, Armenia drew 2-2 with Russia and then beat Georgia 3-1 in the last round.
Russia’s women also walked away with gold, winning 17 out of a possible 18 points. This was their fourth first place win.
Ukraine came in second (15 points), and Georgia came in third (14 points).
Armenia’s women’s team came in eleventh place (10 points).
