At a lecture today in Yerevan organized by the Eurasia Foundation, Professor Zafer Yoruk of Izmir University stated that Turkey should recognize the Armenian Genocide, adding that his opinion had zero influence in Turkey.
When asked by reporters if it wasn’t in the best interest of Turkey, who seeks admittance into the EU, to recognize the Armenian Genocide, Professor Yoruk noted that he wasn’t a representative of the Ankara government and that he was only expressing his personal opinion. He added that not all intellectuals in Turkey share his opinion.
