Prosperous Party MP Naira Zohrabyan today labeled the government’s call for the creation of a natural gas ad-hoc committee as a ploy to gain time and to dampen public passions on the issues of pricing and supply.

Zohrabyan said that the real question to be answered is why a similar proposal recently made by the opposition camp had been voted down by the ruling coalition.

The MP also noted that the November 9 deadline for the committee to review the matter and present its conclusions was too open ended since the issues involved could be satisfactorily addressed much sooner.

Zohrabyan called for a deadline no later than the end of the current spring legislative session.
