A delegation from AECOM, a global infrastructure and engineering consulting firm based in Texas, has visited the planned for TRIPP site in southern Armenia.

The U.S. Embassy in Armenia reports that the delegation, and its partners in Armenia, surveyed the site to restore railway service and other infrastructure.

TRIPP (the Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity) is a US-backed infrastructure and transit corridor designed to connect mainland Azerbaijan to its Nakhchivan exclave through southern Armenia.

It includes plans for a railway, road, pipelines, and fiber-optic lines.

The TRIPP railway element will restore and modernize a 27-mile (42 km) abandoned Soviet-era rail line along the Arax River in Armenia’s southern Syunik province.

The AECOM team arrived in Armenia in May of this year on behalf of the U.S. State Department’s Global Infrastructure and Investment Partnership Fund.

The United States and Armenia formalized a joint venture, the TRIPP Development Company (TDC), in which a U.S. entity holds a 74% stake and Armenia holds 26%. The TDC holds the initial development and operational rights for 49 years.

Construction of the Armenian track section is expected to begin in late 2026.
