Catholicos Aram, Coptic Metropolitan Antonius Discuss Plight of Jerusalem Churches
Catholicos Aram I of the Great House of Cilicia, on June 16, received Metropolitan Antonius, the Coptic Metropolitan of Jerusalem and the Near East, who was accompanied by members of the Coptic clergy.
Metropolitan Antonius first conveyed the fraternal greetings of Pope Tawadros II of Alexandria. He then briefed Catholicos Aram I on the current situation of the churches in Jerusalem, outlining the challenges and concerns they face.
Catholicos Aram I warmly welcomed the visit, emphasizing the longstanding and close relationship between the Armenian and Coptic sister churches. He expressed his unwavering solidarity with the churches in Jerusalem and commended the strong cooperation between the Armenian Patriarchate of Jerusalem and the Coptic Church.
Archbishop Nareg Alemezian, Ecumenical Officer of the Catholicosate, and Very Reverend Father Sarkis Aprahamian, Christian-Muslim Dialogue Officer and staff bearer to the Catholicos, were present at the meeting.
