World Leaders, EU Congratulate Pashinyan on Election Victory

World leaders, including Canadian Prime Minister Carney, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and French President Emmanuel Macron, have congratulated Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan on his election victory in Armenia.

In a post on X, Rubio said the United States supports Prime Minister Pashinyan and Armenia in pursuing peace and remains committed to advancing the goals of the historic Washington Peace Summit, including implementation of the Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity (TRIPP).

In a post on X, Carney said he looks forward to continuing their work together to strengthen ties between the two countries and promote shared prosperity.

Pezeshkian praised the successful conduct of the elections and said the Armenian people’s renewed support for Pashinyan’s government reflects their desire for policies that promote peace, development, stability, and regional cooperation in the South Caucasus.

French President Emmanuel Macron, in a social media post, called the result a “resounding victory” and offered his warm congratulations to the Armenian leader.

Macron said he looks forward to continuing close cooperation with Pashinyan to further strengthen ties between France and Armenia. He emphasized working together for the benefit of both countries, supporting peace and Armenia’s sovereignty, and advancing Armenia’s growing ties with Europe.

President of Cyprus Nikos Christodoulides has also congratulated Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan on his election victory, expressing support for stronger bilateral ties and closer relations between Armenia and the European Union.

In a post on X, the Cypriot president said the people of Armenia had reaffirmed their commitment to a European future through the parliamentary elections.

The European Union congratulated Armenia’s citizens on taking part in the parliamentary elections, praising strong civic participation, and describing the vote as a sign of the country’s commitment to democracy, peace, regional cooperation, and closer ties with Europe.

In a statement from the EU’s High Representative, Brussels praised Armenians for exercising their sovereign democratic right to vote and said the election reflected the country’s continued democratic progress.

Reaffirming its support for Armenia, the EU said it remains committed to helping the country advance its democratic development and deepen bilateral cooperation. The statement added that the Union looks forward to working closely with Armenia’s future government and parliament to pursue reforms, promote regional peace, boost economic growth and connectivity, and strengthen the country’s sovereignty, resilience, democracy, and prosperity.
