The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has appointed Lyaziza Sabyrova as its new Country Director for Armenia, effective 1 April 2026.
Ms. Sabyrova will lead ADB’s operations in Armenia, oversee the implementation of the bank’s operational approach, strengthen client relationships, and manage a cross-functional resident mission.
She will also play a key role in advancing ADB’s strategic priorities in the country, including infrastructure development, private sector-led growth, human development, and climate and disaster resilience.
Ms. Sabyrova has more than thirty years of professional experience, including over two decades with ADB. She joined ADB in 2000 as an economist in the former Water Supply, Urban Development and Housing Division, and has since held progressively senior roles across operations departments. She served as senior country economist in the Kyrgyz Republic Resident Mission and later as principal regional economist for Central and West Asia.
