Armenian, Iranian Foreign Ministers Discuss Mid-East Conflict
The foreign ministers of Armenia and Iran (Ararat Mirzoyan, Seyed Abbas Araghchi), by telephone on March 28, exchanged views on the latest developments in the Middle East and on possible avenues for reaching a resolution to the situation.
The two, according to Mirzoyan’s office, also touched upon issues of a humanitarian nature, as well as multilateral agenda matters.
Araghchi’s office reports that Mirzoyan expressed his condolences on behalf of the Armenian government and people regarding the martyrdom of the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution and several senior Iranian officials and citizens.
Araghchi, while appreciating the positions and messages of sympathy from the Armenian government and people, informed his Armenian counterpart about the war crimes committed by the aggressors and the egregious violations of human rights and international humanitarian law, especially the attacks on schools, educational and research centers, historical and cultural sites, hospitals, vital and productive infrastructure, as well as residential areas
The Iranian foreign minister stressed his country’s resolve to defend its territorial integrity, sovereignty, and national security against U.S. and Israeli military aggression, noting that all governments bear the responsibility to condemn such aggression.
