World Down Syndrome Day Marked in Armenia

On March 21, Armenian Human Rights Defender Anahit Manasyan attended the Sun Bells and Friends classical concert at Yerevan’s Komitas Chamber Music Hall to commemorate World Down Syndrome Day.

During the event, students from the Sun-Children NGO delivered musical performances, creating an inspiring and warm atmosphere for all attendees.

Alongside the concert, the “Sunny Eyes” and “Fathers” photo exhibitions were presented. The audience also witnessed the debut of two social videos: “Don’t Give Up on Your Sun” and “Being Different is Not a Disadvantage.”

Manasyan expressed gratitude to all participants and organizers, with special recognition for Father Grigor Grigoryan, founder of the Sun-Children NGO. She emphasized the dedication behind this mission, noting its positive impact on people’s lives and its significant role in building an inclusive society.

Manasyan remarked: "The world is very noisy today, and this sometimes leads to the fact that real values sometimes go unnoticed. Such an important value and idea is that we all have many peculiarities, differences, and that is what makes the world perfect. We must bear in mind that inclusiveness first begins with our attitude, but it must be expressed in our actions. I wish that the behavior of each of us would be such that we contribute to the formation of an equal and harmonious environment not just with words, but with real actions. Let this symbolic day become another opportunity to spread respect, love and solidarity."
