Armenian FM, UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Meet in Geneva

Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan and UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Türk met today on the sidelines UN Human Rights Council session in Geneva and exchanged views on priorities in the field of human rights protection, current challenges facing the international human rights system, and main areas of cooperation.

Mirzoyan, according to his office, presented Armenia’s approaches to further institutionalizing the peace established between Armenia and Azerbaijan.

The meeting emphasized the importance of active cooperation in the direction of constant strengthening of democratic resilience and trust in human rights protection institutions.

Reference was also made to the importance given to the topic of human rights within the framework of the 17th Conference of the Parties to the UN Convention on Biological Diversity that will be held in Armenia this year.
