Qamishli Armenian Church Celebrates 90th Anniversary
The Armenian Apostolic St. Hagop Church in Qamishli, Syria, celebrated its 90th anniversary with a ceremony led by Archbishop Magar Ashkarian and blessed by Catholicos Aram I. Attendees included clergy, church representatives, officials, and many members of the community.
Catholicos Aram I issued a Pontifical Encyclical to the Armenian community of Qamishli, congratulating them on this historic milestone.
In his message, Catholicos Aram I reflected that for nine decades, under the arches of this sanctuary consecrated by the blessed Papken Coadjutor Catholicos, the faithful of Qamishli have preserved St. Hagop Church as a prosperous and radiant spiritual home.
Catholicos Aram I noted that, especially during these difficult times, the 90th anniversary of St. Hagop Church is more than symbolic. He affirmed it reflects steadfast faith, strong will, and determination—qualities that will help the community overcome challenges and achieve future successes.
