Armenia Wins Seat on UNESCO World Heritage Committee
Armenia, for the first time, has been elected to the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) World Heritage Committee by the General Assembly of States Parties.
The 25th session took place today at UNESCO headquarters in Paris. The seat is for the 2025-29 period.
The World Heritage Committee, comprised of twenty-one member states, selects the sites to be listed as UNESCO World Heritage Sites, including the World Heritage List and the List of World Heritage in Danger, defines the use of the World Heritage Fund and allocates financial assistance upon requests from States Parties.
Azerbaijan was also elected to the committee.
