Armenia Sends Delegation to Baku for Security Forum

Armenia will send a delegation, headed by Andranik Simonyan (Director of the Armenian National Security Service - NSS) to Azerbaijan to attend the 3rd Baku Security Forum.

The NSS, in a press release, only states that Simonyan’s delegation will attend the three-day summit that starts today. It provides no information on what the forum is.

According to Azerbaijan’s State Security Service, the forum’s organizer, it will focus on “The role of mutual cooperation among security agencies in preventing humanitarian crises during terrorist attacks and armed conflicts, as well as global technogenic disasters and environmental catastrophes”.

Representatives from security agencies of fifty countries are said to have attended last year’s forum.

In November 2024, Armenia received an official invitation to the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP29) in Baku but chose not to send a delegation to protest Azerbaijan’s continued detention of Armenian POWs and former Artsakh officials.
