Armenia, Iran Foreign Ministers Sign Political Consultation Memo
The foreign ministers of Armenia and Iran (Ararat Mirzoyan, Seyed Abbas Araghchi, in Yerevan today, signed a MoU (memorandum of understanding) on political consultations between their two offices.
Araghchi is in Yerevan as part of an Iranian delegation headed by Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, that arrived in Armenia on Monday.
Mirzoyan's office, in a statement, does not elaborate on the above MoU.
Iran’s Press TV reports that Armenia and Iran signed ten cooperation MoUs following a private meeting between Pezeshkian and Armenian PM Nikol Pashinyan.
The MoUs address diplomacy, economy, mines and industries, road and urban development, healthcare, environment, education, culture, social interaction, and tourism.
Pashinyan, during a joint press conference with Pezeshkian today, welcomed Tehran’s support of Armenia’s territorial integrity and the inviolability of its borders.
The Armenian leader said he informed Pezeshkian about details of the peace deals signed in Washington D.C. on August 8 and reiterated that the so-called “Trump Route”, envisaged to connect Azerbaijan and its Nakhijevan exclave through Armenia will be exclusively under Yerevan’s jurisdiction.
