Armenia, UAE to Mutually Recognize Driver Licences
Citizens of Armenia will soon be able to drive their cars in the UAE with their Armenia-issued licenses.
Armenia has approved the signing of a memorandum to mutually recognize driving licenses.
The memorandum states that citizens of Armenia and the UAE will be able to use their driving licenses if they go to the country for non-permanent residence. However, they must meet the minimum age requirements for holding a driving license in that country.
If a citizen moves from Armenia to the UAE, or vice versa, for permanent residence, the country must replace the citizen’s driving license with the driver’s license of its own country, without additional exams.
The UAE is Armenia’s largest trading partner in the Gulf and thirty direct flights weekly connect the two countries.
As of February 1, 2025, citizens of both countries can stay in each other's territory for up to ninety days without a visa.
Armenia’s Foreign Ministry says these developments will increase tourist numbers in both countries.
