Armenian Deputy PM Chairs Climate Change Council Meeting

The regular session of Armenia's Inter-Agency Coordination Council for the Implementation of the Requirements and Provisions of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change and the Paris Agreement was held under the chairmanship of Deputy Prime Minister Tigran Khachatryan.

Welcoming the participants of the session, Khachatryan emphasized the importance of implementing consistent work to increase the practical significance of the format in order to ensure the targets set within the framework of climate change mitigation and adaptation policies.

During the session, the bill "On Climate" was discussed in detail, including the provision of the necessary regulations for the institutionalization of climate financing, as well as the measurement, reporting and accreditation system within its framework. In this context, from the perspective of building the necessary capacities to include climate issues in the planning and budgeting system, Khachatryan emphasized the importance of the analysis of climate budget expenditures in the draft state budget for 2025.

During the session, the proposed action plan for promoting electric mobility in the coming years was also discussed, including by referring to the priorities set for various sectoral departments to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in the transport sector.
