Armenia Greenlights Rehabilitation Program for Domestic Violence Perps
The Armenian government today approved a rehabilitation program for first-time perpetrators of domestic violence who, according to police assessments, aren’t at risk of repeat offenses.
The program includes educational and behavioral training to be conducted in and outside of detention centers.
Courts in Armenia will be permitted to obligate offenders to participate in the program. Otherwise, participation will be voluntary.
The police issued 424 warnings in 2023 and 574 in 2024 regarding domestic violence.
Armenia currently has no such rehabilitation program for perpetrators of domestic violence.
