Former Armenian Ambassador to Vatican to be Tried "In Absentia"
An Armenian court has approved a request filed by the country’s Prosecutor General to try, in absentia, Armenia’s former Ambassador to the Holy See Mikayel Minasyan on money laundering and embezzlement charges.
Mikayel Minasyan, the son-in-law of Armenian ex-president Serzh Sargsyan, has been a “wanted person since March 2020 and his whereabouts are unknown.
Interpol suspended its search for Minasyan in 2022.
Minasyan had been a vocal critic of the Armenian government, frequently posting videos and statements on social media from an undisclosed location.
