Armenia’s men’s chess team has been recognized as the best squad over the past century.

The award, accepted by Armenian Chess Federation Executive Director Armen Gevorgyan, was presented at a gala on September 19 marking the 100th anniversary of the foundation of the International Chess Federation at the 45th World Chess Olympiad in Budapest.

The men's chess team of Armenia is a three-time winner of the World Olympiad (2006, 2008, 2012) and a gold medalist of the European and World Team Championships (1999, 2011).

After eight rounds of matches, Armenia’s men’s team is in fourteenth place at the Budapest Olympiad.
