Armenian Foreign Minister: No Positive Reaction from Baku to Our Peace Treaty Proposal
Armenian Foreign Affairs Minister Ararat Mirzoyan, during a joint press conference with Foreign Minister of Estonia Margus Tsahkna in Talin, said Armenia is ready to finalize the text of a peace treaty with Azerbaijan within a month despite Baku’s reluctance to do so.
“I cannot say that we have seen the positive reaction of our Azerbaijani counterparts to this proposal to sign the peace treaty within a month, but the dedication to the peace agenda and determination of Armenia to normalize relations with Azerbaijan and to recognize each other’s territorial integrity on the basis of the 1991 Alma-Ata Declaration and to continue the process of delimitation on the basis of the Alma-Ata Declaration of 1991 is there,” Mirzoyan said.
Regarding Armenia’s relations with Turkey, Mirzoyan said the time has come to implement a previous agreement to open the border for third-country nationals and Armenian and Turkish citizens who hold diplomatic passports.
Mirzoyan also stressed Armenia’s readiness to expand cooperation with Estonia in the fields of IT, cybersecurity, education and tourism, among others.
