Armenia Accuses Baku of Military Provocations Along Border
Armenia, yet again, has accused Azerbaijan of attempting to goad the Armenian military into a wider war.
Armenia’s foreign ministry today described last night’s firing by the Azerbaijani military towards Armenian border positions as the latest such attempt.
“We reaffirm that Armenia is not interested in escalating the situation in the region and call on Azerbaijan to stop actions aimed at such an escalation,” Armenia’s foreign ministry writes today.
The ministry repeated its call for a parallel withdrawal of troops from the Armenia-Azerbaijan border and the signing of a non-aggression pact.
The ministry described Baku’s concerns over recent Armenian acquisitions of defensive arms as incomprehensible given that Azerbaijan acquires many times more arms than Armenia.
