Pashinyan to Egyptian Investors: Come to Armenia and Get Rich

Armenian PM Nikol Pashinyan, now in Egypt on an official visit, made a pitch to local businessmen to invest in Armenia, stressing they can "get rich" through ethical and legal work.

Pashinyan visited the Federation of Egyptian Chambers of Commerce and Industry in Cairo and, during a speech, listed the recent reforms his administration has introduced to make Armenia more attractive to foreign investors.

“An area of interest for investors may be state capital programs and the public investment sector in general. The government of Armenia is now making approximately $1billion in capital investments in various sectors, which is a very large and high figure for Armenia, which has more than doubled over the past six years,” Pashinyan told the businessmen.

Pashinyan stressed Armenia’s attraction as a tourism destination, particularly for winter tourism.

He also singled out winemaking as a sector with great potential.

Pashinyan, like his predecessors, said his goal is to make Armenia a country with a high-tech economy and production.
