Pashinyan in Greece, Meets with PM Kyriakos Mitsotakis

Armenian PM Nikol Pashinyan, accompanied by his wife Anna Hakobyan, arrived in Athens today on a working visit.

Pashinyan has met with Greek President Katerina Sakellaropoulou and Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis and will meet with Parliament Speaker Konstantinos Tassoulas.

A statement released by Pashinyan’s office doesn’t specify the agenda of the visit.

The Greek City Times news outlet reports that Pashinyan, following his meeting with Mitsotakis, thanked Greece for its support to foster democratic reforms in Armenia, and expressed the hope that trade relations will soon reflect the excellent level of political relations between the two countries.

The outlet reports that Mitsotakis noted the opportunities for cooperation between the two countries, adding that “all the conditions exist to reach a bilateral employment agreement for Armenians in Greece”.

Greek President Katerina Sakellaropoulou, during her remarks welcoming Pashinyan, said Greece “supports the negotiation process between Armenia and Azerbaijan, which aims to establish solidarity, peace that will be lasting and will contribute to the creation of good neighborhood and relations.”
