Armenian President Vahagn Khachaturyan arrived in Baghdad today and is scheduled to meet with Iraqi President Abdul Latif Rashid and other government officials.

Khachaturyan was met at Baghdad International Airport by Iraqi Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein.

Iraqi President Abdul Latif Rashid paid an official visit to Armenia last November, the first visit of an Iraqi president to Armenia since the two countries established diplomatic relations in 1992.

Khachaturyan, during a joint press conference last November, said Iraq is an important and trustworthy partner for Armenia in the Middle East.

Khachaturyan's office says he will give a seminar at Baghdad University but fails to specify what he will talk about.
