Armenian Deputy FM Condemns Azerbaijani Troop Movements Along Border
Armenian Deputy Foreign Minister Vahe Gevorgyan, at today’s session of the OSCE Special Permanent Council in Vienna, described the worsening humanitarian crisis in Nagorno Karabakh and recent Azerbaijani military moves in the region.
Gevorgyan, according to his office, said the blockade of Nagorno-Karabakh is part of the broader picture of Azerbaijan’s policy to incite hatred against Armenians and to use force and the threat of force, all warning signs of genocidal intent.
Gevorgyan called on Azerbaijan to heed the calls of the international community and the International Court of Justice to reopen the Lachin Corridor and thus allow urgent humanitarian aid to Nagorno Karabakh.
He condemned recent moves by Azerbaijan to amass soldiers and offensive weaponry along the border with Armenia and the Karabakh line of contact, describing them as proof that Azerbaijan is preparing new military aggression against Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh.
Gevorgyan stressed that the international community must monitor any dialog between Stepanakert and Baku.
