Artsakh President Says Facebook Removed His Page Following Azerbaijani Complaints

Artsakh President Arayik Harutyunyan claims Facebook has removed his official page because of Azerbaijani complaints.

Harutyunyan’s office, in a statement today, says the page had 459,000 followers.

“The page was instrumental in ensuring the transparency of the activities of the Artsakh President. The staff of the President of the Republic of Artsakh considers the decision of Facebook unacceptable, especially in the current difficult conditions, when Azerbaijan strives to subject the people of Artsakh to absolute isolation and blockade, including in the information field," the statement reads.

The statement doesn’t specify the nature of the complaints, adding that Harutyunyan’s staff has contacted Facebook demanding justifications for the page’s removal.

Update: Facebook owner Meta has restored the page.
