Armenian, Swedish Foreign Ministers Discuss Karabakh Crisis
The foreign ministers of Armenia and Sweden, by telephone today, discussed the humanitarian crisis in Karabakh due to Azerbaijan’s illegal blockade of the Lachin Corridor.
Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan and his Swedish counterpart, Tobias Billström, referred to the August 16 meeting of the U.N. Security Council and the calls by most members to reopen the roadway in accordance with the findings of the International Court of Justice.
The importance of the effective use of all mechanisms in this direction, including by the E.U. and its member states, was emphasized, given that the ongoing deterioration of the humanitarian situation in Nagorno-Karabakh could also seriously jeopardize efforts aimed at establishing stability in the region.
